Skin Rejuvenation
Diamond Glow Facial in Clarks Summit and Scranton, PA - physician-grade skin, no downtime.
Diamond Glow at The Summit Aesthetics is a physician-grade 3-in-1 medical facial that exfoliates, extracts, and infuses customized SkinMedica Pro-Infusion serums into the skin – using a patented diamond-tipped wand and closed-loop vacuum system that cleanses and delivers active ingredients in a single 30 to 45 minute session. Every Diamond Glow at our Clarks Summit medical spa is personally performed by Lori Barone, our Certified Cosmetic Laser Technician with more than 5 years of experience in medical aesthetic skincare. Diamond Glow is non-invasive, has no downtime, and produces immediate visible improvement in skin tone, texture, and clarity. Most patients across Scranton, Abington, Dunmore, and the wider NEPA region see the strongest cumulative results from a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, though single treatments before weddings, events, or vacations are equally popular – you can wear makeup immediately after.

The three things Diamond Glow does in one session
The “3-in-1” positioning describes the mechanism: three distinct skincare functions happening simultaneously through the same handpiece.
1. Exfoliation
The diamond-tipped wand mechanically exfoliates the surface layer of dead and dulling skin. Three tip options (fine, medium, coarse) let Lori match the exfoliation intensity to your skin type and concerns. Sensitive skin gets the fine tip; congested or thicker skin gets the coarser tip.
2. Extraction
A closed-loop vacuum simultaneously suctions away the exfoliated debris – including deeply-embedded pore contents (sebum, blackheads, congestion) that manual extraction can’t always reach. The vacuum action is what makes Diamond Glow substantially more effective at deep-pore clearing than a traditional facial.
3. Pro-Infusion
While exfoliating and extracting, the same handpiece delivers a chosen SkinMedica Pro-Infusion serum directly onto and into the freshly-cleared skin – the exact opposite of the traditional skincare paradox where active ingredients are wasted on skin still covered in dead surface cells. The infusion happens where the actives can actually work.
Diamond Glow vs. Hydrafacial - the honest comparison
This is the most-asked comparison in medical facials, and it deserves a real answer. Hydrafacial (made by Beauty Health Company) has become the household-name 3-in-1 medical facial thanks to heavy direct-to-consumer marketing. Diamond Glow (made by Allergan Aesthetics, formerly known as DermalInfusion) is less brand-famous but comparable technology. Both are FDA-cleared, both work, and neither is universally “better.” The differences that actually matter for choosing between them:

Patients wanting SkinMedica-formulated serum infusion and mechanical exfoliation precision
Patients specifically seeking the branded Hydrafacial treatment
Brand recognition
Growing – quieter DTC marketing
Higher – heavy DTC marketing over the last decade
Both work well. Neither is universally better. The most honest reason to choose Diamond Glow over Hydrafacial is the SkinMedica Pro-Infusion library – SkinMedica is one of the longest-established medical skincare lines in the industry, developed alongside dermatology practice for decades. The most honest reason to choose Hydrafacial is if you specifically want the branded Hydrafacial name recognition. What matters more than the device is the provider running it – skilled hands and honest serum selection produce better results on either platform than an inexperienced provider on either.
Pro-Infusion serum menu - what we can add to your Diamond Glow
SkinMedica has formulated a growing library of Pro-Infusion serums designed specifically for Diamond Glow delivery. Lori will recommend the right serum (or combination) for your skin and concerns at your appointment. Common options:
Pro-Infusion serum
Best for
Vitamin C
Brightening, antioxidant protection, uneven tone
Ultra HA Serum
Hydration, plumping, fine-line softening
SKINVIVE Enhancer
Deep hydration boost, skin quality
TNS Advanced+ Serum
Growth factors for skin renewal, aging concerns
Pore Clarifying (salicylic acid)
Congestion, blackheads, oily skin, mild acne
Skin Brightening
Hyperpigmentation, dullness, uneven tone
Retinol Booster
Anti-aging, texture, mature skin
Lumivive Day / Night
Environmental protection, night repair
Serum choice matters. The Pro-Infusion is where the treatment becomes personalized to your skin. Lori will select the right serum (or occasionally combination) based on what your skin needs on the day of treatment – which is often different from what you thought you needed when you booked. That real-time assessment is one of the reasons we don’t delegate facials.
What Diamond Glow treats

01
Congestion, blackheads, and clogged pores
the closed-loop vacuum is genuinely more effective than manual extraction

Dullness and uneven skin tone
exfoliation reveals fresher skin underneath; brightening serums accelerate the effect
03
Rough or uneven texture
diamond-tip exfoliation is customizable to your specific concern
04
Fine lines and early signs of aging
particularly when combined with TNS Advanced+ Serum or Retinol Booster
05
Dehydration
Ultra HA and SKINVIVE Enhancer serums restore skin plumpness immediately
06
Mild acne and oily skin
Pore Clarifying serum with salicylic acid addresses excess oil and comedones
07
Overall skin quality maintenance
monthly Diamond Glow keeps skin looking consistently better than sporadic care
08
Pre-event glow
the go-to treatment 3 to 5 days before a wedding, photograph, or important event
What to expect at your Diamond Glow appointment
Consultation (first visit): Complimentary, 30 to 45 minutes. Lori evaluates your skin, discusses your concerns and goals, and – for Diamond Glow specifically – helps you decide whether a single treatment or a series makes more sense for your goals.
The treatment: 30 to 45 minutes. You lie back on the treatment table while Lori cleanses your skin, selects the appropriate diamond tip for your skin type, and glides the Diamond Glow handpiece across your face in overlapping passes. You’ll feel gentle suction and mild abrasion – a sensation most patients describe as “a firm massage.” Not painful. Not uncomfortable.
Serum infusion: While treating, the handpiece is simultaneously delivering the Pro-Infusion serum Lori has chosen for your skin that day. You will see the serum being applied.
Immediately after: Skin looks visibly brighter, feels smoother, and glows. Some patients see mild pinkness for an hour or two – easily covered with makeup if needed. You can wear makeup immediately, return to work, and continue your day normally.
Follow-up: For a series, subsequent Diamond Glow sessions are spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. Many patients continue with maintenance Diamond Glows monthly or every 6 weeks.
How often should I get a Diamond Glow?
This depends on your goals and where Diamond Glow fits into your broader skincare approach.

Notes

Bundles the maintenance visits together
Diamond Glow vs. a regular facial - is it worth the difference?
Fair question. A traditional spa facial has real value, and if you’ve had a good facialist for years, we’re not going to tell you that Diamond Glow is universally better. What we can tell you is what the technology genuinely adds.

Diamond Glow aftercare
Aftercare is genuinely minimal – the whole appeal of Diamond Glow is that you can return to normal life immediately. That said, a few things help you get the most from each treatment.
For the first 24 hours
– Sunscreen every day (this rule applies always, but especially the day of and after treatment)
– Skip retinoids and exfoliating acids for 24 hours
– Avoid intense sweating or hot showers immediately after (a few hours’ buffer is enough)
– Makeup is fine immediately, but let skin breathe if you can
Ongoing
– Daily sunscreen, always
– Consistent skincare between treatments – Diamond Glow works best as part of a broader routine, not a substitute for one
– Discuss home skincare with Lori – SkinMedica products complement Diamond Glow especially well and are available in-office
Why "provider-consistent care" matters for Diamond Glow
Facials feel like a low-stakes treatment, and in one sense they are – the downside risk is minimal. But the difference between a great Diamond Glow and an average one is entirely about the provider. Serum selection judgment, tip choice, pressure and pass count, extraction technique, and reading real-time skin response all affect the result meaningfully.
Every Diamond Glow at The Summit Aesthetics is personally performed by Lori Barone. The same experienced provider who assesses your skin at consultation is the one performing your Diamond Glow and every treatment thereafter. There is no rotation and no delegation. Patients who come back for monthly Diamond Glows over years get the accumulated benefit of Lori knowing their skin, their patterns, and their preferences.
Specifically for Diamond Glow, this matters because:
- Serum selection judgment. Which Pro-Infusion serum to use today depends on how your skin looks today – not the serum you booked for. Lori will change the plan based on real-time assessment.
- Tip and pressure calibration. Fine, medium, or coarse tip? Light or firm pressure? These small choices matter for the result and are calibrated by experience.
- Integration with your other treatments. If you’re also seeing us for injectables or lasers, Lori coordinates your Diamond Glow schedule with those treatments to maximize combined effect.
Is Diamond Glow safe? Who should not be treated?
Diamond Glow has an excellent safety profile. It is non-invasive and non-ablative, meaning there is no wounding of the skin. Complications are rare and typically minor.
Common, expected, and short-lived
- Mild pinkness for an hour or two
- Slight sensitivity for the rest of the day
Uncommon
- Temporary breakout (“purging”) in the days after – more common in patients with congested skin as pores clear
- Mild dryness in the day or two after (respond with gentle moisturizer)
Who should not get Diamond Glow
- Anyone with active herpes outbreak, cold sore, or infection in the treatment area
- Anyone with active severe acne (topical treatment first; discuss)
- Anyone currently on isotretinoin (Accutane) – wait 6 months
- Anyone with severe active rosacea or eczema flare-up
- Anyone with active sunburn or wounds in the treatment area
- Anyone with known allergy to salicylic acid or other planned Pro-Infusion ingredients
Diamond Glow is generally safe during pregnancy when appropriate serum selection is made (avoiding retinol and salicylic acid). Discuss with Lori if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding – many pregnant patients love Diamond Glow specifically because it’s one of the few in-office treatments they can still enjoy.
Frequently asked questions
Questions our patients ask most
How much does Diamond Glow cost in Clarks Summit, PA?
Diamond Glow is priced per session, with series pricing (4 to 6 treatments) typically bundled at a discount versus paying per session. Cost also varies based on treatment area (face only vs. face + neck vs. face + neck + décolletage). Lori will provide specific pricing during your consultation. Call (570) 585-0201 to schedule.
How is Diamond Glow different from Hydrafacial?
Both are FDA-cleared 3-in-1 medical facials that exfoliate, extract, and infuse serums simultaneously. Diamond Glow uses a diamond-tipped wand for mechanical exfoliation and delivers SkinMedica Pro-Infusion serums. Hydrafacial uses a Vortex-Fusion spiral tip for fluid-based exfoliation and delivers HydraFacial Boosters. Both work well. The main practical differences are the exfoliation mechanism and the serum library. Hydrafacial has more brand recognition; Diamond Glow has the SkinMedica medical-grade skincare heritage. Neither is universally better.
How often should I get a Diamond Glow?
For addressing specific concerns, a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. For ongoing skin maintenance, every 4 to 6 weeks is the most common schedule. For a pre-event glow, a single treatment 3 to 5 days before the event.
Does Diamond Glow hurt?
No. Most patients describe the sensation as a firm massage – gentle suction with mild abrasion. There is no cutting, injection, or thermal energy. The treatment is generally relaxing.
Can I wear makeup after Diamond Glow?
Yes – immediately. Diamond Glow has no downtime. Some patients wait an hour or two if their skin feels warm, but you can safely apply makeup right away. This is one of the reasons Diamond Glow is a favorite pre-event treatment.
Can I get a Diamond Glow during my Botox or filler visit?
Yes. In fact, many patients combine Diamond Glow with their injectable maintenance visits – the Diamond Glow is typically performed before the injectables. This bundles two visits into one and produces a comprehensive result. Coordinate with our team when scheduling.
Is Diamond Glow safe during pregnancy?
Generally yes, when appropriate Pro-Infusion serum selection is made – specifically avoiding retinol-based serums and salicylic acid. Many pregnant patients love Diamond Glow because it’s one of the few medical-grade treatments they can still enjoy. Discuss with Lori at your appointment.
Is Diamond Glow worth it vs. a regular facial?
Depends on what you want. Diamond Glow does more of the actual work – deeper pore extraction, better serum penetration, medical-grade formulations. A traditional facial is often more relaxing. Many patients use both across a year for different purposes. If your goal is visibly improving specific skin concerns, Diamond Glow generally does more per session.
Can Diamond Glow help with acne?
Yes, for mild acne and congestion specifically. The closed-loop extraction addresses blackheads and clogged pores effectively, and the Pore Clarifying Pro-Infusion (with salicylic acid) targets excess oil. For severe or cystic acne, additional treatments (chemical peels, prescription options) are usually part of the plan.
