EVERESSE by Volnewmer at The Summit Aesthetics is an FDA-cleared monopolar radiofrequency treatment that lifts, firms, and tightens the face, neck, chest, and body – using a water-cooled applicator that delivers deep dermal heating with substantially less discomfort than older monopolar RF platforms. Every EVERESSE session at our Clarks Summit medical spa is personally performed by Lori Barone, our Certified Cosmetic Laser Technician with more than 5 years of experience across monopolar and bipolar RF platforms. Most patients complete a single 45 to 90-minute session (depending on treatment areas) with no downtime, and see progressive tightening over three to six months as new collagen forms in the treated tissue. How EVERESSE actually works
Monopolar radiofrequency has been used in aesthetic medicine for over 20 years – Thermage introduced the category, and every device since has been refining the same core concept. RF energy delivered from a single (mono) electrode heats tissue deep beneath the skin surface. That controlled heat causes existing collagen fibers to contract immediately (a visible tightening effect in the weeks after treatment) and stimulates new collagen production over the next 3 to 6 months (the deeper, progressive result).
EVERESSE is Volnewmer’s take on monopolar RF, and it makes two engineering choices that meaningfully change the treatment experience:
- A water-cooled applicator. The treatment head continuously cools the skin surface as RF energy passes through into the deeper dermis. That protects the top layer of skin from thermal damage while still delivering the deep heat that drives collagen response. Older monopolar RF platforms use cryogen sprays or other cooling methods, which are generally less consistent and, historically, less comfortable.
- A different pulse profile. EVERESSE delivers RF energy across many lower-power pulses rather than a smaller number of high-power pulses. Total energy delivered to the tissue is comparable, but distributed differently – which is a large part of why the treatment is meaningfully more tolerable than older monopolar RF platforms.
Why we chose to add EVERESSE
Adopting newer technology is a real decision for a small practice. Newer devices mean less clinical data, more marketing noise, and the risk that a manufacturer walks away from the platform in a few years. We do not add every new device that gets marketed to us – we’ve turned down more than we’ve accepted. So it’s worth naming why EVERESSE made the cut.
- The comfort profile is genuinely different. Existing monopolar RF platforms are effective but painful enough that a real share of patients decline maintenance sessions after the first. A more tolerable treatment produces better patient outcomes because patients actually return for the follow-through the collagen response benefits from.
- It fills a gap in our menu. For patients who want lifting and firming without needles (Virtue RF), without downtime (TetraPRO CO2), and without the discomfort profile of older monopolar RF, EVERESSE is the right fit. Before we added it, we had to send those patients elsewhere.
- The clinical mechanism is well-established. Monopolar RF for skin tightening is a category with 20+ years of clinical use behind it. EVERESSE is a newer implementation of an established mechanism, not an experimental technology.
- Volnewmer has been transparent with providers about candidacy and results. That matters more than most patients realize – device manufacturers who over-promise leave providers to disappoint patients. Manufacturers who set honest expectations enable honest patient conversations.
EVERESSE vs. Thermage - the honest comparison

The most honest reason to choose EVERESSE over Thermage is comfort – which sounds like a marketing point but actually affects clinical outcomes because comfortable treatments produce patients who return for maintenance. The most honest reason to choose Thermage over EVERESSE is the depth of its long-term data set – if you’re specifically motivated by 20+ years of published outcomes, that’s a real argument.

These are not competing treatments as much as different tools. Ultherapy is designed to deliver focused ultrasound energy to specific tissue depths, including the deeper SMAS layer that surgeons address in facelifts. EVERESSE delivers RF energy more broadly across the treated area for overall tightening. Some patients get both across a treatment plan; others choose one based on their specific concerns and comfort priorities.

The "non-surgical facelift" conversation - what EVERESSE can and can't do
EVERESSE is often marketed as a “non-surgical facelift,” and it deserves an honest explanation of what that phrase means.
What EVERESSE can do: Meaningful firming, tightening, and mild lifting through collagen stimulation. Visible improvement in skin quality. Postponing the point at which a patient might consider surgical intervention. Working in combination with injectables, other RF treatments, and skincare to produce a comprehensive rejuvenation result.
What EVERESSE cannot do: Reproduce the outcome of a surgical facelift. Address significant skin excess or deep neck banding at the level a surgeon can. Restore volume that has been lost (that is what dermal fillers do). Produce results overnight or in a single week.
For patients with mild to moderate skin laxity who want to look meaningfully better without surgery, EVERESSE is often the right choice. For patients with significant skin excess who want the specific result a surgical facelift produces, no non-surgical treatment will fully replace surgery – and we’ll tell you that honestly at consultation.
What to expect at your EVERESSE appointment
Consultation (first visit): Complimentary, 45 minutes. Lori evaluates your concerns and goals, reviews your medical history, and builds a written plan. For EVERESSE specifically, this is where we decide whether EVERESSE alone or a combined plan with other treatments produces the best result for what you want to achieve.
Pre-treatment: Minimal preparation. Come with clean skin, no makeup. Avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids for a few days before treatment. Otherwise, no significant preparation required.
The treatment: Depending on the treatment areas, the session takes 45 to 90 minutes. Lori applies conductive gel to the treatment areas and moves the EVERESSE water-cooled applicator across the tissue in overlapping passes. Most patients feel a warm, deep sensation – sometimes described as intermittently warm pressure – that is tolerable without numbing for the majority of our patients.
Immediately after: Skin may look mildly pink for an hour or two. Most patients return to work, exercise, or normal activities immediately. There is no visible healing period.
Follow-up: We invite you back at 3 months to assess progress and again at 6 months for the peak result. Some patients benefit from a second EVERESSE session at 6 to 12 months; others are satisfied with the single-session outcome for a full year or longer.
When will I see EVERESSE results?
Like all collagen-based treatments, EVERESSE results build progressively over months rather than appearing immediately. Setting expectations for the timeline is critical for patient satisfaction – because the most common source of disappointment with any collagen-stimulation treatment is evaluating the result too early.

Do not evaluate your EVERESSE result at 2 weeks. The immediate contraction produces visible tightening, but the meaningful, deeper result takes months to develop. Patients who track photos monthly usually see the shift most clearly.
EVERESSE aftercare
One of the genuine advantages of EVERESSE is how minimal the aftercare is. There is no true “downtime,” and most patients return to normal life immediately. A few things do help.
For the first 24 hours
- Drink extra water – lymphatic clearance is aided by hydration
- Skip alcohol if you can
- Skip exceptionally hot showers or saunas
- Normal exercise, work, and social activities are fine
For the first 3 to 6 months (the results window)
- Continue daily sunscreen. You are protecting the collagen investment you just made.
- Support your skin with quality skincare. The collagen response is real, but nutrition, hydration, sun protection, and consistent skincare all affect how well it develops.
- Do not judge the result before week 8. Meaningful visible changes begin at 6 to 8 weeks. Peak results are at 3 to 6 months.
- Track photos. The gradual nature of collagen results makes month-to-month photos genuinely useful for seeing the change.

- Cross-platform judgment. Lori has performed thousands of RF-based treatments across multiple platforms – Virtue RF, TruSculpt iD, and now EVERESSE. Is EVERESSE safe? Who should not be treated?
Monopolar RF has been used in aesthetic medicine for over 20 years with a well-documented safety profile. EVERESSE is a newer implementation of the same well-established mechanism. Complications are uncommon and typically minor when the procedure is performed by an experienced provider on the right candidate.
Common, expected, and short-lived
